About Orchard House

Orchard House started off its life as Ware Pre-School in the late 1960’s. At that time it ran from the Ware Town Football Club which was situated next to the Buryfields.

We moved to our new premises in August 1995, and changed our name to Orchard House Pre-School.  The building is owned by East Herts District Council, but is solely used by the pre-school.  The building has been adapted to create a child friendly environment, and is secure and safe both indoors and outdoors. The premises are furnished with child sized furniture, inclusive of low level storage units for independent access.

We have a quiet room which is our carpeted area used for book corner and where the staff work closely with their children on a more one-to-one basis.  Our main room consists of Home Corner, a variety of table-top crafts and activities, messy area, sand play, water play, computer, music corner, and many different types of construction resources.  We also are very lucky in that we have a very well equipped outdoor play area, including a newly created growing area, which is safe and secure for the children to play in the fresh air.

Orchardhouse Pre-school is a registered charity (no: 283458) we are also registered with Ofsted Early Years (registered no: 27954) Ofsted Telephone number 0300 123 4666. Complaints 0300 123 3155.  We have full insurance cover for Preschool’s the certificate is on the notice board in the hall.

IMG_5857Orchardhouse accepts children from 2 years. We also accept Nursery Education Funding for children the term after their 2nd and 3rd birthday.  From September 2017 we will be offering 30 hour funded places. We work to a planned curriculum using Early Years Foundation Stage Principles (EYFS) which sets the standards for the Learning Development and Care for children from Birth to five years.  As members of the Pre-school Learning Alliance and Young in Herts we benefit from up-to-date information, advice and training programs using their expertise and experience in working with pre-school children.

Every child at Orchard house has a keyworker. This is a member of staff who will be responsible for your child, this will give your child one special adult to whom they can relate to, this makes settling into the pre-school calmer and easier. In addition the keyworker is in a position to tailor the group’s curriculum to the unique needs of each individual child. We have regular parent’s evenings to keep you updated on your child’s progress and you may view these reports at any time.
